· District Rehabilitation Centre for physically Handicapped persons · First Aid and Home Nursing Training · HARIS
(i) District Rehabilitation Centre for physically Handicapped persons came into existence in the year 1985 with the grant in aid of Social Welfare Department Haryana. The main objective of the scheme is to help the disabled persons in procuring durable sophisticated and scientifically manufactured, modern, standard aid and appliances that can promote their physical, social and psychological rehabilitation and enhance their economic potential. This Centre is located in Red Cross Bhawan. This Centre has its own building and has a workshop and Physiotherapy unit. District Red Cross Society Kurukshetra is providing aids and appliances to the needy handicapped persons free of cost who are the resident of kurukshetra. The aid and appliances are manufactured in our workshop itself and we provide orthopedic shoes, Calipers, Artificial hand, leg, Collar, Jackets, different types of belts, all types of splints and any other aid required by the patient. Any type of aid required by the patient / person is delivered either on the next day or within a week after fulfilling the required documents. Camps: - Distt. Rehabilitation Centre and The Distt. Disability Rehabilitation Centre Organises the camps in the periphery to take the measurement of aids / appliances. Self-Employment: - The Centre helps and provide guidance for the self-employment of the handicapped persons.
(ii) Physiotherapy Centre: - Physiotherapy Centre was established in the year 1991. This Centre provides all type of services in the field of physiotherapy viz Electrotherapy, Hydrotherapy, Manual therapy, Massage therapy, Magnet therapy. It includes Cervical traction, Lumber traction, Short wave diathermy, Ultrasonic, Inter-ferrential therapy, Muscle stimulation, Trans-Cutaneous nerve stimulation, Steam bath, Wax-bath, Roller, Jogger, Vibrator, CPM unit, Shoulder-wheel, Wrist rotator, Foot exerciser, Infra Red lamp etc. Thousands of patients got benefited from their agony and pain in back, neck, shoulder and knee joint etc. This centre has dealt above 14,000 patients till day.
(iii) First Aid and Home Nursing Training: - First Aid Training is provided through its wing St. John Ambulance Associations since 1992. It is situated in the Red Cross Bhawan. More than 10,000 Students are given training every year. Special classes of First Aid are conducted for the Driver / conductor course from 1st of every month. (iv) Brigade: - There are 25 brigade divisions in the District with the Society. The detail is as under: - Ambulance brigade (Senior Male): - 10 Cadet Ambulance (Junior Male): - 07 Nursing Division (Senior Female): - 03 Cadet Nursing Division (Junior Female): - 05 Volunteers are always ready to provide voluntary services on the occasion like solar eclipse, religious & other meets. First Aid posts are established during these times.
(iv) Blood Donation Services: - This noble cause is performed by the Society since very beginning. We arrange the camps on receiving requests from the different Societies / Organisations. The Society takes the responsibility to arrange a medical team for pricking / collection of blood. Society also provides healthy nutrition to the blood donors. Awareness camps for the same cause are organized in urban and rural area as well. For organizing a Blood Donation camp, the office of the Distt. Red Cross Society, Kurukshetra or The LNJP Hospital Kurukshetra may be contacted.
(v) Working Women's Hostel: - In order to provide safe and suitable accommodation to working women of low income strata, a working women hostel was constructed by this branch with the help of grant from Govt. of India and Haryana Government. The Hostel has 24 rooms with a capacity to reside for 48 working women. Each room is attached with a kitchen and a bathroom. The Hostel has a chaukidar and different recreation facilities have been provided in the common room.
(vi)Family Counselling Centre: - This Centre is being run under the guidance of the Haryana State Social Welfare Advisory Board, Chandigarh and the grant is received from Central Social Welfare Board, New Delhi . This centre has been established with a view to solve the problems of family disputes which relates to extra marital relations, mal adjustments & emotional problem etc.
(vii) Ambulance Services: - In order to provide timely treatment, two Ambulances have been stationed at Civil Hospital Kurukshetra. The Ambulances are maintained on “No Profit & loss basis”. In a year 380 calls have been attended by the Society.
(viii) Computer Centre: - In the centre the students studies the science of computer. Different type of courses have been run by the centre. Any body can take admission at any time.
(ix)HARIS: - As per the instruction of government, the deeds relating to land & loans have now been computerised. The infrastructure like manpower & the hardware has been provided by the Society. In lieu of providing the services, the Society generates the funds for carrying its humanitarian activities.
(x) Financial Help: - Financial help have been provided to needy and poor persons in the shape of cash, ration, clothing & medicines, etc.
