To serve a population of 7,97,540 in District Kurukshetra, there are three community health centre, 14 Primary Health Centres, 102 Sub Centres and One District level General Hospital. Different health services such as Family Welfare, Immunization, School Health, Malaria, Maternity Child Health, T.B. , Leprosy etc. are being provided to the peoples.

 

Family Welfare Programme:

Sterilization camps are held at L.N.J.P. Hospital, Kurukshetra on every Monday & Friday. At Pehowa these camps are held on every Thursday. Similarly, Family Welfare Camps are organized at Community Health Centre Shahabad on every Thursday. Every Tuesday such camps are organised at Ladwa. Apart from this spacing method such as I.U.D. , Oral Pills, and Contraceptive are also in practice and these services are available freely in all the Health Institutions.

A new sterilization technique (non-scalpel vasectomy) is being popularised in the district. In the month of October, 2000 as many as 76 male sterilization were done. Four Surgeons have been imparted training in NSV method.

 

Immunization Programme:

The district is functioning as Regional Vaccine store feeding 5 districts. Immunization camps are held in all the Health Institutions and in the villages. At L.N.J.P. Hospital Thursday has been fixed as vaccination day. In the field vaccination is done on every Wednesday. In vaccination camps Polio, DPT, BCG, T.T., Measles services are being rendered. In order to eradicate Polio, a special campaign has been launched. All children 0-5 years are immunized every year.

School Health Programme :

Under this program health team visits all the Primary Schools to check up and treat the children. This medical check up is done every year.

Malaria Programme : There is a drug distribution centre in every village where malaria drug i.e. Chloroquine Tablets are distributed to the fever cases. In hospital and sub centres bloods slides are collected and tested if there is any malaria case, radical treatment is given to the patient at his residence. Where there is a case of malaria focal spray is done in the surrounding area.

 

T.B. Programme:

Field staff i.e. M.P.H.W. male & female and MPHS male & female have been instructed to detect the suspected the T.B. cases and send the same to the Govt. Hospitals, for confirmation and treatment. Medicines are given to the T.B. patient free of cost.

 

SHRI KRISHNA AYURVEDIC COLLEGE

World famous Shri Krishna Ayurvedic College is also situated in Kurukshetra. This college is of unique kind which provide degrees in BAMS/GAMS i.e. Doctorate in Ayurveda. In addition, there is one Ayurvedic Hospital which is also attached with this college which have also 15 dispanceries.
