The farmers of the district Kurukshetra has done a appreciable work in green and white revolution. The farmers also have been doing remarkable work by adopting fisheries in village ponds as well as in their own ponds. Moreover district Kurukshetra is known as religious area but efforts made by the department of fisheries with the cooperation of the fish farmers is going towards Blue Revolution by adopting fish culture.

The survey conducted by the Fisheries Department for viable area is summerised below :-

Total Water Area in district : 400.00 Hect.

(Village ponds etc.)

(a) Seasonal Water Area : 93.00 Hect.

(b) Religious Water Area : 80.00 Hect.

(c.) Net Balance Water Area brought : 227.00 Hect

under fish culture.

 

The district is facing difficulty due to scarcity of water in fish culture.

Training to Fish Farmers

Rs.50/- per day ( Trg. Stipend) for 10 days.

 

One of the best National Fish Seed Farm is situated at Jyotisar. This farm has consisted of Nurseries, Rearing tanks, Brood Stock Tanks, Bucket and Chinees Hatchery. Department supply the fish seed @ Rs.75/- per thousand in the district as well as all other parts of the State. The fish seed supplied to the fish farmers during the month of March-April and July-August every year by Induced Breeding.

Some of the progressive fish farmers are doing a good work of fish seed production by installing Hachery at their pond site. One of the farmer at village Mandheri Block Shahabad is producing crores of fish seeds per year and is supplying to the fish farmers of the State as well as to the Punjab State.
